Who I Am and Why I Blog

So I think it’s about time to re-introduce myself and explain why I blog–or at least, why I would LIKE to blog more consistently!

Hi, it’s me, K’Lee!

By way of introduction or re-introduction, then, here are some things you may or may not know about me:

*I just turned 56 on March 29, but I almost died a few days before I reached my 27th birthday back in 1985.

*I have been remarried for 8 years, to the love of my life, David (and we have been together for 11 years, ever since meeting through online dating!)  I grew up in New Hampshire and moved here to Maine 11 years ago.

*David and I are “pet parents” of one puppy and six cats!

Feeding time – 5 of our 6 cats (these 5 were a litter of feral kittens that showed up in our back yard nearly 4 years ago).
Our older cat, Mack – and our precious Kita girl, whom we lost on Dec. 18, 2012.

*I have four adult “kids” – three daughters and one son – ages 24, 27, 29, and 32 – plus two sons-in-law, a third I consider a son-in-law, a daughter-in-law, one adorable almost 20-month-old granddaughter, AND another granddaughter due in August!

*I have one brother and two sisters, and several nieces and nephews.

*I have lost both of my parents to cancer; my Dad to lymphoma in 2002 and my Mom to lung cancer in 2011.

*I also lost my canine companion of 12 years to cancer and old age complications the week before Christmas 2012.

*I am a lifelong learner with a few degrees (A.A.S. in Education/SLPA; B.A. in Psychology;  and M.Ed. in Instructional Technology) and I’m currently a doctoral candidate, considered All But Dissertation (ABD) in the dissertation phase of my Doctor of Education (EdD) degree program in Educational Technology and E-Learning.

*I have been providing professional freelance work since early 2008, including writing, editing, instructional design, and course development. I have about 3,000 articles published online in a variety of topics, for several clients and companies, and have helped create a dozen or so courses. I have also written one book so far, Fatherly Reflections, and have more planned. Other freelance, independent contractor roles have included/currently are Subject Matter Expert (SME) in English Language Arts, Research Associate, and educational consultant.

*I have been running  a home-based business as K’Lee’s Kreations for many years, and specialize in creating customized quilts, pillows, bags, and other items, often with imprinted photos.

*Finally, I blog because…I enjoy writing, especially if I can provide encouragement and help others in some way who take the time to read and follow my blogs. This particular blog is intended to be a representation of my writing, as well as a place to feature my services, portfolio, and other entrepreneurial endeavors.

What about you? What are some special characteristics that make you who you are, if you “care to share”? Thanks for reading and commenting, and please consider following my blog! 🙂

I love the customized quilts, K’Lee. I want to learn how to make quilts. After searching for a couple of months, I finally found a location that offers courses. I have to call and confirm details but I’m hoping to take a course sometime in summer or fall.
