Misadventures of Plowing – Blizzard Nemo 2013
So how is everyone who was in the path of the Blizzard of 2013, which someone named “Nemo”?
We got over two feet of snow, some drifted to 3 or 4 feet high snow banks – and we still have gusting winds and blowing snow, and COLD temps!
My poor hubby, Dave – he got a blizzard for his birthday and had to go out and plow this morning before we get another foot of snow on top of what we have now, according to the weather forecast.
The plow truck was buried – Dave had to shovel to even get to the truck; then had to jump it (fortunately one car was parked next to it).
Then he got stuck in the side yard which he always plows out for oil deliveries. The plow got stuck in the down position, and every time Dave tried to back up, the back end of the truck fishtailed and ended up knocking the bird feeders down and hitting the side of the house.
Thank God for neighbors! Two of them came over, because they were also out plowing – one had a set of chains and the other drove over with his bigger truck, and they pulled Dave’s truck away from the house and back onto a flat plowed surface.
We had multiple white out moments, when I could barely see his truck from the house…
It took about two hours – poor hubby! 🙁 We have the kerosene heater going for added warmth, and ready for “just in case” of a power failure … Dave came in a couple times to warm up and refill his travel coffee mug.
Ahhhh, winter in Maine … our poor puppy is NOT impressed. She prefers the warmth of the kerosene heater – as do our cats!
How are you all doing? How did spend this day, especially if you were snowed in?
