Inspiration to Not Quit but Keep Moving Forward on Motivation Monday
to NOT Quit!
Happy May Day! My plans to participate for the entire month of April in the A to Z Blog Challenge…didn’t work out, due other pressing obligations and events. One major event occurred last week, so I have to share because it’s relevant for this blog post! 😉
On this now 7 1/2-year journey to earn my doctoral degree (Doctor of Education in instructional technology and e-learning), I just reached another major milestone last week! ? My dissertation Chair told me he believes we have gathered enough data with the second survey (of the original three planned) of participating online graduate learners. SO…the data collection portion is DONE, and I can move on now to completing my dissertation manuscript and my oral defense. Now I’m on the home stretch and the finish line is within sight, where the checkered flags will wave soon! ?
This achievement required motivation and inspiration to NOT QUIT even though I felt like it so many times. I found that inspiration and encouragement in God, my hubby, my adult kids, my siblings, my friends, and my fellow scholars in support groups on Facebook. This journey reminds me of these lines from a longer poem (and I apologize, I don’t know who the original author is):
“When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit-
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.
Success is failure turned inside out –
The silver tint in the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It might be near, when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit –
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.”
So What About YOU?
Have you ever felt like just giving up on something, because that road you were trudging seemed all uphill?
Where do you find your inspiration to keep moving forward?
