Happy February 1st – Let’s Pursue Positivity and Negate Negativity!

Happy February 1st! 🙂  Here’s a novel idea for this month known for celebrating love… Let’s pursue positivity by negating negativity! That’s one way to overcome  a bad attitude! I’m still endeavoring to follow my challenge I issued on my other blog: No Complaining or Negativity in 2017! Of course, it wouldn’t be reasonable to suggest you can be happy and positive all the time. It can be a real challenge just to get up some days and face your responsibilities. It helps, though, to at least focus on the positive–express gratitude for all the loved ones in your life, for the blessings, for every good thing you have going for you. Don’t let negative thoughts overwhelm you or push aside those positive thoughts. This quote really says it well.

I borrowed this from a post I wrote on my other  blog, Words of Encouragement. It seems fitting to share it today, on this first day of a new month, for some midweek motivation…

“I encourage you to practice being a positive person.

It’s just a matter of breaking one bad habit

and forming a new good one.

Discipline is required any time

you are forming a new habit.

Ask a good friend or a spouse

to remind you if they hear you

slipping into negativism.

Practice trusting yourself

rather than doubting yourself.

You can train yourself to be positive

in what appears to be a negative situation.

Pray: ‘Lord, show me where I am stuck in negativity

and need to break through to trusting You.

Help me to have the right thoughts and attitudes

that move me forward. Amen.'”

–Joyce Meyer in “The Confident Woman Devotional”

As I mentioned, sometimes and some days it’s easier to practice positivity than others! Just like being stuck on that performance treadmill, sometimes we get stuck in a rut of negativity and need a hand getting pulled OUT of it!

So What About YOU?

Are you generally a positive person or do you struggle with negativity due to overwhelming life circumstances?

Do you have any strategies to help you break negative cycles in your life?

I agree that we need to control ourselves by not getting swayed by negativity. That is why I feel it’s important to have people around who we can talk to. Isn’t it?

Another great reminder! I think sometimes we try to banish all negative thoughts, and that’s unrealistic. It’s okay to have them, just not okay to let them ruin us. Thanks for the post!

I have to put effort into being positive, especially now, with all sorts of unpleasant things going on in this world. It’s not easy but being positive and having hope are always better than drowning in negativity.
