Spring Forward – Make It Happen March

Happy March 1st!

This may be the month in which *spring* shows up on the calendar, but this first day of the *spring* month  was again more like winter! Chilly and snow flurries throughout the day – but that’s typical for the New England states, and Maine in particular.

You probably have heard the expression related to March, about “springing forward” – usually referring to the Daylight Savings Time practice of setting clocks ahead one hour after having them set back an hour in the fall.

I’m thinking of springing forward to “make it happen” in March. As I mentioned in my February wrap-up post, what I mean by “Make It Happen March” is this: manage my time better, be more efficient in my freelance work, get my creative business up and running again, AND … blog more consistently! Those are my goals for this month.

Of course, wouldn’t you know it – as soon as you put it out there, circumstances are bound to arise to discourage you, as they did for me on this first day of a new month!

My day started off with the Desi pup snatching my reading glasses and crunching them before I could rescue them – resulting in broken glasses for me and a broken tooth for her; fortunately, they are her puppy teeth and she’ll grow more. Fortunately for me, I have a backup pair that were my original glasses from a few years back – so the prescription in them isn’t quite strong enough, but better than NOT being able to see well!

She looks so innocent, doesn’t she?

Who, me, crunch your glasses?

Combine that event with assorted others throughout the day in the form of unmet financial expectations (clients not paying as anticipated or expected), deadlines looming, and battling some physical maladies … and yeah, you have a first day of March that totally did NOT go as hoped, first thing this morning!

However, I’m determined to go to bed soon, get a good night’s sleep, and start fresh in the morning with a new perspective. Thanks to the support and encouragement of my hubby (pictured with Desi), plus some great groups of folks (on Facebook and elsewhere) related to my interests (freelancing and quilting), I know this too shall pass and God’s mercies are new every morning!

How about you? Did your first day of March go as planned/hoped? What are your goals for the month?

  1. I like it!

My first day of March went well. No sugar.

My goal for the month is win the Toastmaster Area Contest, clean my apartment as a meditation and raise over $1,000 for the Cancer and Lymphoma Society for my big climb.

  2. My first day of March went well. I decided to reveal a sensitive part of my life on how an older person copes with the aging process. During the day, my mood lowered. I wished I could take it back–not blog about that subject–not age. Of course, neither is possible. So, I’ll carry on as normal, trusting that the universe is unfolding as it should.

  3. My first day of March was uneventful, but it is nice to be “in” March. Somehow it makes it seem that winter is over. As for goals, my goals remain the same, though slightly modified now that I have two months behind me. Be blessed!
