Pursuing Our Purpose-Part 4: Defining Purpose As Our Goals

Here we are, up to date (as of 5/18) with my posts on defining “pursuing purpose,” the third section of my series, Preventing Procrastination, Prizing Prioritizing, and Pursuing Purpose.

This post is about the third and final definition of purpose:

**Purpose: the aim or goal of a person; what a person is trying to do or become.**

I really relate to this quote as part of my purpose in life of my goals and the person I am becoming.  I have certainly not perfectly fulfilled any of my roles in life as daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, mother-in-law, friend, student, colleague, or any other professional role…but I am still striving to be the best I can be, to overcome adversity and weaknesses, and to make a difference in the lives of all those who know me–whether in person or only from a distance through this virtual world online.

In the professional world, I want to use my God-given gifts to provide written content that will make a difference for those who read my articles, blog posts, or educational materials.

In the creative world of sewing, quilting, and crafting, I also want to use my God-given gifts of creativity and expertise to make products that will bring joy to people’s lives.

*******

If you have been asking God to lead you in the way you should go, you will have a sense of purpose building in you.

You can ask Him to help you plan your day, our week, and your life. I encourage you to write down the things that God imprints on your heart to do.

Writing the vision, and placing  it where you can routinely see it, will help settle the plan God puts inside of you.”

~~Joyce Meyer

Writing the vision, making a plan, speaking positive affirmations–then acting on those things, is all part of understanding and fulfilling our purpose.

So what do you think about this definition of purpose? Can you relate? What is your goal? Who do you want to become or what do you want to do in your life?

COMING UP: Starting with the first definition of “to pursue” as  to follow and try to catch or capture (someone or something) for usually a long distance or time

What a powerful message and one we need to hear as often as we need to so that we can fulfill our goals. Pursuing our purpose is a new concept for me, but I can sure see how it can help in our success.

Were we really born to create an impact, or re we just one of many grains of sand? Only love makes a difference between the two.
