Intentionally Eating Healthier on Women With Intention Wednesday

Intentionally Choosing a Healthier Lifestyle

It’s Women With Intention Wednesday again… which means focusing on something INTENTIONALLY.

Here’s the definition again:

deliberately, purposely, knowingly**

Recently, I deliberately chose to research various healthier eating plans and download some reports and guidelines from a number of established nutritionists. I even invested in some of those plans.

One that has been working for me (about 20 lbs. lost so far and a few inches from my waist) has been the Red Smoothie Detox Factor by Liz Swann Miller (NOT an affiliate link – just for more info!) You can also read a couple different reviews about the plan here and here.

The short version is, you make your own smoothies with primarily red fruits (strawberries, cherries, raspberries) and add in some occasional greens (spinach, various types of lettuce, avocado), usually with almond or coconut milk as the base liquid. In addition, some of the “super foods” you add in various combinations include pure vanilla, cinnamon, maca powder, ginger root, cacao powder, chia seeds, and coconut.

The red smoothies are your main meals for 14 days, along with other fruits, veggies, and nuts if you feel hungry. It is basically a “clean eating plan” that cuts out anything artificial along with meats, dairy, breads, cereals, pastas, and the like. After that, the plan includes 21 days of recipes adding in healthy combinations of other foods, while still drinking at least one red smoothie a day.

As I mentioned, I have in fact lost about 20 lbs. so far, and about 4 inches off my waist. I am also exercising more consistently, partly because I have more energy! I’m still drinking a variation of red, purple (blueberries tend to make red smoothies purple!), and green smoothies, and then usually one regular meal each day.

It’s really NOT a “magic” eating plan — it is sensible, does require effort, and the smoothies and other foods included in the plan are tasty. As with this and any other healthy life choice, you have to deliberately, intentionally choose to follow the plan, say no to temptation to eat unhealthy foods, and stick with it to see results.

So What About YOU?

Have you ever needed to focus on losing weight in a healthy manner, or maybe you are now in that place?

Do you make your own smoothies?

  1. I have made my own smoothies just two times I guess, I’m not a big fan of it. I prefer to eat the whole fruit and after I’m full. But yeah this is really a grea Idea for healthier and better life.

  2. Losing 20lbs it’s such a huge achievement! You must be really proud of that! I admire your focus and dedication, I do set goals as well but I tend to lose interest after a while.

  3. This smoothie looks great! I used to have a smoothie every morning and now I’m trying to get back into the habit. I love blueberries, yoghurt, spinach and almond milk in mine. Super healthy!

  4. I often wonder what will happen when you stop this kind of plan.. as it seems to be that we often gain the weight we lose!

  5. I have read many times about such diet plans and smoothie shakes that help you loose weight but to be honest I never gave them a try. But reading your weight loss progress I am thinking to finally give it a try now. But I guess little work out is must along with these for better results. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
